They say that money cannot buy you happiness. I beg to differ. Having been a solopreneur for many years now, I could say that more free time makes me happy. I tackle a ton of things in a day and because of that, I’d prefer to pay for services that shortcut a task - and that leaves me more time for myself and creative work.
So, can money help you experience joy through time-saving investments? A hundred percent yes.
In today’s post, we ’ll talk about why having more free time is actually a good thing and top time-saving things you can spend with your money. So, let’s get started.
When we think of solopreneurs, we picture out long hours of work and multi-tasking. Many of us treat this as the norm. But what if I told you that building a successful solopreneur business doesn’t have to be overwhelming - that you can live a free and happy life while being accomplished?
Such question compels us to ponder on the benefits of free time…
The world today is a world of “too much.” It seems that there are more kinds of stuff to buy, more promises to fulfill, more tv shows to watch, more lessons to learn. The list goes on. But does busy really mean you’re productive? As it turns out, feeling that you need to get more done results in not getting things done. Free time works wonders for your ability to think clearly which helps you prioritize and make better decisions.
University of British Columbia researchers surveyed 6,000 people. They gave 60 adults $40 to spend money on services that save time. The participants chose home-cleaning services and grocery delivery. Although these services were simple, they had a profound effect on the participants’ happiness. Their stress related to not having enough time disappeared.
Perhaps the most obvious benefit of having more free time is the opportunity to do other things you love. Sure, your solopreneur business is important - but we all know that it’s not the only aspect of your life that matters. You may have lost the time to read, cook a new recipe, begin a creative hobby (painting or photography), or have a picnic with your kid.
One of the reasons why a solopreneur may struggle to earn more is that they’re bogged down with work. You may think that spending dollars on commodities is wasteful. The trick is to spend money on the right time-saving investments. I repeat - these tools or services should be actually helpful to your business.
Below are some options that are worth considering:
Just because you can buy time with money, doesn’t mean you’re being lazy. Think of it as a way to keep your life in balance. After all, the world needs solopreneurs who can take better care of themselves.
