Mornings are like romantic relationships - for them to be healthy and productive throughout, they should not be rushed and be kept stress-free. The same goes for businesses and solopreneurs. While there are a lot of ways to make a businessperson productive, we’ll start from the morning right after a good night’s rest.
It is not rare nowadays that people wake up checking their phones first, typically social media or entertainment apps. However, starting your day without this behavior puts you ahead of those who do as it reduces the instances of you encountering bad news. It might not be necessarily bad news but things that you don’t like or stress you as well.
This type of habit not only disturbs your morning but it also wastes precious time when you could do something better. Daymond John, CEO of FUBU Clothing and motivational speaker of the business TV show Shark Tank, avoids checking his phone in the morning to reduce stress.
Nothing else brings us more satisfaction and comfort in life than spiritual health. Being grateful for everything you have gives you inner peace which is why it is important to thank God or someone in your life for bringing a smile to your face. Be thankful for the graces, blessings, love, and friendship that you have fostered over the years. Be thankful for your good health and for those that you hold dear.
Waking up happy is a very special phenomenon in life, so practice the habit of expressing gratitude. It not only makes yourself joyful but also the people around you. Remember that one of the most important traits as a businessperson is being charismatic and having a grateful attitude helps in being just that.
Now that your mental and spiritual health is taken care of, it’s time to do some physical wellness. During sleep the human body decreases activity and when you wake up everything jumpstarts. That is why drinking water helps rehydrate bodily tissues.
Water also fires up your metabolism, helps flush out bodily toxins, and provides brain fuel. If you’re weight conscious, it helps you avoid overeating.
A common problem during mornings is that people are prone to moving slowly due to the cold temperature. That includes leaving the bed and taking the trip to the bathroom. Light-workouts help prepare the body for the day’s activity. Not only it is healthy physically, but it also improves mood and mental health.
Exercise promotes the release of chemicals in the brain called endorphins which make you feel good and more relaxed. A person that engages in physical activities has a reduced chance of feeling anxious and depressed.
Before the pollution from all of the bustling, take time to bask in the comfort of silence and freshness of the morning. Inhale deeply the peace of today and exhale all of the stress accumulated yesterday.
Stress feels like hell to those who are tormented by it. Stress is fueled by the guilt, regret, and the anxiety of the mistakes done yesterday. Things that could’ve been and couldn't have been. The only way to free ourselves from it is to look forward and let go. Treat every morning as a new experience, an opportunity for better planning, decision-making, and action-taking.
