Running a good venture isn’t just about setting and following policies that protect the interests and welfare of the brand, workers, and consumers. In the business world, some entrepreneurs operate with a pretense of negativity.
However, this can be one of the reasons for a brand to fail in the near future. As it turns out, kindness is what helps a business succeed. Kindness brings happiness and when everyone is happy, the cycle of consumerism stays solid.
What are the other reasons for practicing kindness as a business owner and training your employees to do the same? All the answers are found below.
People will be curious why some avail the services of one particular company when there are others to choose from. When existing customers say, “Oh, it’s because our experience is great”, those who haven’t transacted with the said company will want to try this new brand, especially when they aren’t happy with ones they regularly transact with.
Once you have leads turning into customers, your kind business approach will have them wanting for more. And they won’t shy from coming back because they know they’re in good hands.
Everyone deals with personal problems on a daily basis. Sometimes, problems at home affect the office. In a negative work environment, employees are often distracted because everything bad going on in their heads gets worse. Whereas if you treat them with kindness, they’ll learn to stay positive and do their best to keep their problems out of work.
In time, the trust, loyalty, and happiness you have fostered with your employees and customers will help all of your relationships develop into a solid community. And in times of crisis, everyone will do their best to keep your business running. Not because your customers and employees will lose a great service provider and means of earning, but because they want to help you as much as you helped them.
Make it a habit to say hello. Or greet people with whatever is appropriate for the time of the day. Even if you’re the boss, be willing to listen first. Ask how they are and how you can help them.
We all have deadlines to fulfill. But there are those who have too much on their plate at a given time. It may be their fault or not, but it’s important that you help or allow other members of your team to assist. Not only will you prevent delays in your business’s operations but it will also foster a sense of family within your company.
Treat your employees or colleagues to a get-together from time to time. Celebrate a successful launch, deal, or birthday. Go on a vacation with everyone. Or do the occasional “lunch is on me”. Treats can be anything and your subordinates will appreciate the kind gesture.
Office drama is unavoidable. Not everyone has the decency of minding their own businesses. But as a leader, you must set an example by squashing gossip. It doesn’t matter if the rumors are true or not. Nobody has the right to judge others. Work is work and everyone should leave it at that. You’re running a company, not a bar. Well, even if your business is a bar, there should be no drama among the workers.
Kindness is a great thing to show while running a business. However, you shouldn’t let abusers take advantage of your generosity. If a customer remains hostile after multiple attempts of addressing their concerns, ask them politely to leave. Or if an employee is still lazing off after giving so many chances, impose the proper punishments.
