Starting something you’ve been dreaming of, such as a side business or marketing idea, can cause fear. Anyone in general can feel afraid to start a new project because of “unknown” challenges.
But here’s what I’ve also realized: When we get to a point where fear no longer drives us, we experience great things. We realize that we can do so much more!
In today’s article, you’re going to discover 9 ways to overcome the fear of getting started once and for all.
Why don’t you become curious about the good things that are going to happen if you only try? Imagine the possibilities. Curiosity increases your enthusiasm and open-mindedness.
The moment you feel afraid, use gratitude as the antidote. Think of specific things that you are thankful for in your life. Gratitude works because it enables you to focus on abundance, not lack (which is present in fear).
When a dream is so strong that you believe you have to act on it, oftentimes you just have to push through despite the fear. As you take action, fear diminishes little by little because now you’re starting to see the results.
The truth is, you know and can do more than you realize. Stop feeling inadequate and unable. While it’s true that you can’t do everything, focus on what you’re good at. Use those talents to fulfill your goals.
Letting go of control is probably one of the hardest things we can do. But surrendering is the only way to experience peace within. Enjoy the present moment without having to constantly worry about what may happen tomorrow.
Does that thing you want to start require a certain level of knowledge? If so, then it makes sense to equip yourself with information. Take a course or attend a seminar!
Make use of whatever resources you have at your disposal that will help you accomplish your goal. Try to think outside the box. Experiment with things that are under your control.
The fear of failure presents us from starting something amazing. Remember that failure is not life-threatening! You won’t die, but you will certainly learn and become better. Embrace this fact and fear won’t stand a chance.
Big changes begin with small steps. Rome wasn’t built in a day. Focus on a small, doable task at a time. If you do this, then that small step will take you to the right direction. Don’t be in a rush to figure everything out.
I hope this article helps you fight fear. Fear is limiting - and you need to stop letting it own you. If the world’s most successful overcame the fear of starting, so can you. Got thoughts to share? Write them down in the comments section below.
