Motherhood is fun despite the stressful moments we experience sometimes. And the longer we stay at home taking care of our children, the more we catch ourselves thinking that there must be something more to life than this.
The truth is, there is, and blogging is a good career to pursue. You get to share your experiences with others, express yourself, and earn money. If blogging has been on your mind as a mother’s stay-at-home career for some time, then this article is just right for you.
Not every stay-at-home mother can run a successful blog. If you’re busy, like really really busy that you can’t afford an hour or two every day for writing, then you will find it hard to create content. You must first see if you have the time, the skills, the creativity for writing, and the heart to deal with failure.
If you’re willing to start a blog without lacking the aforementioned conditions stopping you, you might be ready to be a stay-at-home blogging mommy.
The next step is to find out what you’re going to write about. It should be interesting. Something that can benefit your readers and motivate them to come back for more of your content. If you have no idea, you can also choose topics that you’re an expert at.
It can be about small business management, gardening, makeup tutorials, cooking, academics, or household chore hacks. It is important that you’re also passionate about your niche because if you’re not, seeing your competition perform better than you can make you give up easily.
Blogging requires creativity. Not just in your content but also about your branding. A blog name is the first thing your readers will see. That's why it’s important to make first impressions good. There are a few elements that make a good blog name: wittiness, uniqueness, attention-grabbing, and relevance to what your niche is about.
Take my blog name as an example, LIFESTYLE SOLOPRENEUR. It sounds like it’s for lifestyle and business tips for entrepreneurs which is true but why is it called solopreneur? - Attention-grabbing and unique. This hooks the visitor into reading more only to find out that my blog is about life coaching, business strategies, and lifestyle advice for small business owners.
There are a lot of blogging platforms to choose from. Here are things you need to consider when choosing a blogging platform:
Accept that life as a stay-at-home blogging mother won’t look like the stock photos you see with a happy mom holding a smiling baby on her lap as she writes her blog. If your kids are still young like 10 years old and below, you might find yourself stressed facing the computer while they’re jumping on the couch or running around the house.
This doesn’t apply to blogging alone, any career stay-at-home career faces this familiar problem. As I said, it won’t be easy. But here’s a mother-to-mother tip: Establish a daytime sleeping schedule for your youngin’s and make use of the time while they’re asleep.
This career is hard from the beginning but if you learn to come to terms with yourself while following that daytime nap schedule, you can make it.
