What determines your success in your business and life? As it turns out (and surely, you already realize this), your thoughts and actions play a significant role.
Your mind is the control center of your life. If you think defeating thoughts, then you will behave in a way that sets you up for defeat. The same thing goes with your actions. If they’re negative, it will almost be impossible to convince yourself that you can do it.
I hope you get what I mean!
Now, let’s break it all down into daily actionable steps. Here are a few things I have learned and done myself that I believe will also set you up for success.
There are many articles that promote success morning rituals, and sometimes it’s easy to get confused! Don’t base your morning ritual on someone else’s - make it personal. First, ask yourself: “What is at least 1 thing I can do that will put me in a calm and positive mood first thing in the morning?” It could be meditation, journaling, reading, or all of the above.
This year is the year you take better care of yourself! A lot of solopreneurs are guilty of neglecting the needs of their body. They allow themselves to get caught up in a cycle of endless work. How can you give your best to your clients and loved ones when you’re run down and exhausted? A great way to get started is by adding more physical activity into your day. Because it’s no secret that many solopreneurs work from home.
Staying on task has become more difficult these days, especially that we’re surrounded by all kinds of distraction. You receive social media notifications, work emails, chat messages… not to mention, personal errands. The good news is that focus is like a muscle. The more you exercise it, the stronger it becomes over time. My favorite tool for increasing focus is Tomato Timer. It uses the Pomodoro Technique - a time management strategy where you must focus for 25 minutes and take a short 5 to 10-minute break.
To succeed, you must be able to adapt to change. Do you know what developments and issues affect your industry? By staying informed, you can take advantage of opportunities. There are many ways to keep up with industry trends. Check out news websites. Listen to business podcasts. Talk to your customers. Observe what your top competitors are doing!
Your core values are the things that you strongly believe in. They guide your decisions, impacting your happiness and the quality of your life. One way that you compromise your core values is saying YES when deep inside, you mean NO. As you can predict, it will cause stress and anxiety. Be honest about what you desire to do now.
I hope that these tips inspire you to move towards your goals. Stop giving your control away and always have a purpose for everything you do!
