  • Have You Set Some Good Goals for Your Business In 2021?

    Jan 06, 2021

Every new year presents new challenges for solopreneurs and small business owners. If last year’s challenge was operating a business during the coronavirus pandemic, this year might be growing the business under the new normal.

But that’s not all - even you have to take better care of yourself this year than you did in the last. That’s just one of the business goals that you should set for 2021. Take a look at more of the solopreneurial resolutions from this list for inspiration.

    1. Learning to delegate and do more of it

Last year you might’ve felt a lot of stress by tending to most of the responsibilities in running your ventures. Let this year be different. Have someone else do some of the work in your business. Better yet, hire multiple like-minded people and show up in your store just to supervise.

    2. Promoting your business regularly and consistently

Let your business grow and reach out to more potential customers. Advertise more and create more products to build a diverse inventory. Send scheduled email campaigns, hand out fliers, and boost your social media presence.

    3. Improving your financial decisions

Think twice before you spend and monitor your expenses. This will help you make better marketing investments because this teaches you to prioritize which element of your business requires funding and it also makes you value the money you earn even more.

    4. Truly understanding the wants and needs of your customers

Listening to the concerns of your customers and tending to their needs is what encourages them to be loyal. And when you have a lot of loyal customers, your business will grow faster and even survive through tough times.

Make a resolution to be easier to reach. A few ways to do this is to give your contact info, ask for feedback, comments, and suggestions.

    5. Building a website for your business

When you’re out to buy a product nowadays, you’d think about online shopping and the first place you’ll search in is Google. That’s why consumers nowadays are most likely to complete purchases online. Don’t be left out and create a website for your business as well. If that’s hard for you to do right now, at least have a social media page for your store.

    6. Staying up to trend on marketing innovations

Like creating an online presence for marketing, there are also more marketing innovations and trends that will put you on top of your niche market above your competitors. A good example of these trends is email marketing. To stay updated, joining the mailing lists of business blogs and technology-focused websites.

    7. Being flexible and adaptable

The coronavirus pandemic that struck last year caught the entire planet off guard. A lot of small businesses closed because they weren’t ready to operate during the lockdown. On the bright side of what happened, it taught small entrepreneurs a valuable lesson - always have a plan in case things go south.

A few key points to remember in being a flexible and adaptable business is - to have a contingency plan, emergency funds for continuous operation, private logistics for supplies and delivery, and tools for remote working.

    8. Putting time for yourself on your calendar

In addition to delegating work to avoid being stressed, a good business owner should also schedule their own personal leisure. For example, have the entire weekend to relax at home or go hiking. Make it non-negotiable. Weekends should only be for personal time and personal time alone.

Strategize how to make your business grow this year but don’t forget to make plans for contingencies. Listen to the latest marketing trends and the current events that could shape your niche market. Being prepared isn’t just for survival but for exponential business growth as well.
