Working can put pressure on anyone and that’s not a secret. What if the day is really busy and you’re about to blow in the middle of it? Do you continue working? Don’t.
Destressing doesn’t have to be expensive or hard. It can be simple, inexpensive, and easily turned into a habit. What are some simple destressing techniques to do in the middle of your day? Here are 9 ideas:
Get stuffed on lunch and take a power nap. Sleep for an hour and a half - that's enough for a powerful recharge. Who says you can’t? You’re a solopreneur. You have no boss - you ARE the boss. Just be sure to set an alarm and continue where you left off.
Coffee has caffeine and that makes you jumpy. Opt for tea instead during the afternoon. Inhale that sweet aroma of chamomile, drink, and relax. Watch some cute videos of animals on your phone and snack on biscuits while you’re at it. A piece of advice - if you want your tea to be sweet, use white sugar with 3 teaspoons or 1.5 oz. of honey.
Modern devices aren’t just for communication, but they also provide a wide variety of entertainment. What’s your favorite band? If you prefer listening to music alone then open your playlist or Spotify. If you wanna watch a live concert or a music video, go to YouTube.
Staying in one hectic environment can be stressful. Move out of your workspace before calling it a day. Why not take a walk outside and enjoy the view around the park? Or you can also..
This one's very simple and it takes a minute to do. Stand up from your chair, stretch those sore limbs, and take a deep breath. It can also be done while walking outside. It’s actually better to do two destressing activities in one sequence for a greater effect.
Call, text, or chat a family member or a friend who's free to chat about anything. Putting your thoughts into others for a change can be also de-stressing. You also get to keep and strengthen relationships with people who matter in your life despite being busy at work.
Cleaning might make you busy, but decluttering your workspace also declutters your mind. Tackle your tabletop, take out the trash, or throw away some paperwork that is no longer needed. Just don’t overdo it by rearranging the office - you might completely forget your unfinished business at work.
Frustrated about something? Let it out by squeezing a stress ball. You can also squeeze while stretching, walking around, and taking deep breaths.
Those who say that procrastination is bad may have never used it properly and in moderation. Learn to say no to stress and leave work behind when it’s gets too much. Drain your brain by opening social media or playing games.
There are a lot of ways to destress, and it just depends on what activities you enjoy the most. My favorite is squeezing a stress ball while walking outside doing stretches and taking a breather. What’s yours?
