I would say that solopreneurs are lucky. They’re lucky to be able to skip the daily commute, take a nap when they need to, and spend their coffee breaks without hurrying up.
But despite these fun parts of solopreneurship, it’s undeniable that sometimes you need a bit of help when it comes to motivation. Taking in all the information in business can become overwhelming.
The truth is, in order to be successful, you need to rely less on motivation and develop more discipline. Nevertheless, motivation still matters because it puts meaning into your work. Let’s take a closer look at how you should motivate yourself to be productive at home.
It’s easy to slack off and lose focus of your task if you don’t have an office space for your business. A home office creates a serious vibe. It cements your commitment while at work and more importantly, tells everyone in your home that your time should be respected. Previously, I’ve written up a post on setting up an office space for productivity.
Solopreneurs who want to get things done ASAP find themselves jumping from one task to another. It’s difficult to gather and truly appreciate the information you need about one thing without a clear focus. If you’re like most work-from-home business owners, you’d be amazed by all the ideas, tools, and strategies in your niche. You’d want to give all of them a try. But how many of these things do you actually need? Does your solopreneur business really need them to start with? Stop trying to chase the next best thing. Keep your solopreneur life simple by researching prospective strategies and tools and pick 1 winner from each.
If you’ve watched too many videos of people who’ve succeeded in their chosen path, now is the time to step up and become an inspiration yourself. It goes without saying that you should slow down on learning and start DOING MORE. The goal to inspire others pushes you to step up your game. I urge you to work as if the world is watching so that you always strive to behave your best.
This might come off as contradictory because we all know that working from home gives us the comfort of being in our pajamas. So, use this strategy when you need it the most. Here’s why dressing up for work does the trick: Enclothed cognition. Enclothed cognition is a phenomenon in which a person thinks and acts according to his worn clothing. For example, a woman who wears heels and decent clothing makes her think sharp and feel more confident.
If you ever feel stuck at this point in your solopreneur business, don’t give up. Even the most dedicated solopreneurs need to be reminded of the ways to be motivated. I hope this guide helps you. Don’t allow yourself to feel frustrated of the things you weren’t able to accomplish. From now on, commit to being persistent and enjoy the rewards.
